The following articles expose more information about the permanent treaty with the United States.  

The last article shows that the U.S. claimed no exclusive rights or privileges in Hawaii/the Sandwich Islands.

Also, as a matter of fact, it was Belgium in 1841 who recognized the Kingdom of Hawaii/the Sandwich Islands/Hawaiian Islands as an independent sovereign nation and Not the United States.
