Kamehameha lll made a proclamation rejected the 1844 claim of a fixed and permanent preference to the U.S.  over Great Britain ....the clause was cancelled and ordered republished ...Done at the Palace, this 21st, day of August, A.D. 1845.  KAMEHAMEHA by the King, John Young, Premier.”  Note:  the game plan is now changed ....the U.S. now takes a backseat in the international arena....discussions etc expected .....Important....maka ala sleeping giants!
