Interesting. Not entirely sure what the main link suggests. The title seems to suggests that Kanaina was not a Kamehameha. But some comments seem supportive. Palila Nohomualani was Kamehameha's first grandchild. The connection between Kaahumanu, Kanaina and Kekuanaoa and their documented history along with witness statements during the probate prove they saw themselves a as close family. That ohana connection was Palila's descent from Kamanawa, the brother of Keʻeaumoku Pāpaʻiahiahi, who was the father of Kaahumanu. Kanaina was even made konohiki of Kauai due to connection to the land there.

Let's see, our family ae the heirs of the bodies of both Mahihelelima and Kanekapolei married to Kalaniopuu and Kamehameha.... yet those who haven't been working on genealogies are claiming to know the Truth? lol......Mahihelelima was also the kahu/caretaker of Kamehameha's wives Kaahumanu, Kaheiheimalie, and Namahana/ Piia .........wo who would you want to believe?
